Lets start with Jives Coffee Lounge. Just moments into Old Colorado City, you can find the relaxed live performance charged coffee house just waiting to add you to it’s family. The glass exterior beckons you inside with warm, reader friendly lighting while giving you a dollhouse view of the many interesting and artistic sights within. Inside you are greeted by the classic aromatic pleasure of coffee, and treats, but good luck choosing your favorite place to sit, as each chair tells a different story and provides a unique view of the coffee house. Vintage décor, combined with modern class only enhances the high quality food and beverage offered in the extensive menu, and you wont be able to resist the competitive prices.
Having made my first visit to Jives as audience member to one of Tryst’s writers there was in that evening a prime example of what Jives is all about - Open mic night, where local artists come out to jam, share original work, and even cover other artist’s popular songs in new and inventive ways. I enjoyed the night’s performances with my go to cup – mint mocha latte- sweetened with Jive’s supply of organic sugars. The staff, and frequent customers lived up to the Jives motto of ‘coffee, music, life’ and definitely create a refreshing and relaxing atmosphere. While sitting there, in the vintage style booth surrounded by friends I realized I hadn’t felt the energy that Jive’s supplies since my 13 year stay on the east coast, it is so very reminiscent of the New York, and D.C. feel, and is sure to remain a trysting place of mine for years to come.
